Rosie Bourkes

These birds are named after Sir Richard Bourke who discovered them. Rosie Bourkes are southern Austrailian grass parrots (Neopsephotus Bourkii). They're usually 7-1/2" to 8-1/2" in size. They're colored in pastels of blue & pink with black.

Rosie's are affectionate, quiet, yet gently playful. However, they can be aloof and shy with strangers. They will eat from your hand and enjoy riding around the house on your shoulder. They are active at dawn and dusk.

Like a cat, they will stalk small insects to pounce on and you might be surprised at how good they are at this game when outside their cage.  They have a beautiful singing voice similar to that of a canary or finch. With hand-feeding they're a very sweet and gentle companion bird.

Note :: The use of a night lite is recommended to prevent night frights which they can easily experience in total darkness.
