Cook rice as normal (but no salt or
butter). Wash and Chop or use a food processor if you have one
some or
all of the following ingredients while the rice is cooking:
broccoli, carrots, bell peppers (any color), chili peppers (any color),
green beans, corn. lima beans, peas, celery or any safe vegetables.
Add your chopped vegetables to the above cooked rice. Mix well
and cover with lid while it cools off. Reminder, birds prefer not to
have their food to hot or to cold. When it has cooled down feed
your birds about one-two full tablespoons in a separate eating dish
than they're daily seed & pellet dish.
Leftovers may be stored in the refrigerator for 3 days to feed to
your birds. Any that won't be used in the first 3 days must be frozen & defrosted as needed.
Storage :: Place into ZipLock Freezer bags & Freeze.
~0r~ Place into ice cube trays, freeze & move into ZipLock Freezer bags for easy portioning.
It's a nutritious treat most birds enjoy.
Birdie Corn Bread
2 Packages Mexican Cornbread Mix (Follow directions on pkg.)
(egg shells can be crushed & added to mix for add'l. calcium)
Then add the following ingredients below
1/4c Chopped Large Chili Peppers (no seeds)
1/4c Chopped Celery
1/4c Chopped Bell Peppers (any color)
1 Small Can of Mexican Corn Drained
1 Small Can Green Beans (or your preference of another safe vegetable)
Spray
pan with olive oil & cook in oven at 350 degrees until golden
brown. Cool & cut into small square pieces. When room
temperature your bird can enjoy this healthy treat. Bag the
leftovers for later if used in 3 days. ~Or~ Place remaining
pieces in a zip lock bag and defrost one piece at a time as needed.
Note :: You can include use any safe vegetables, seeds, or pellets your birds eat.
