We hope you find our website helpful & informative in your search for a companion parrot. Our goal is to help preserve exotic parrots without impacting those in the wild. We hope the information available here will help educate visitors about these intelligent & sensitive creatures. Aiding you, the perspective owner, in making the right choice with a better understanding of the long lives and responsibilities you're taking on when you become a bird owner. Unfortunately, there have been many birds that were purchased only to later be discarded because the owner had no understanding of what they were getting into.
By going into the ownership of a parrot you are making a big commitment. You are going to need to be able to give them your Time, Companionship and Patience. You're not just getting a pet but adopting a new Family Member.

Another goal we hope to further is the preservation of these species, both in our homes and especially in the wild. It is important to promote the purchase of domestically bred & raised stocks to eliminate demand for birds taken from the wild. Some of the birds we breed at BBN/CP are already becoming extinct in the wild. Additional issues of deforestation and other loss of habitat also threaten them more every day. If we can not find successful ways to breed these species in captivity and re-introduce them in the wild, they could soon be lost forever. Efforts are under way to find ways to breed those species which have not bred except in the wild, before they disappear.
Our aviaries utilize optimal environments, ie. lighting, temperature, humidity, air quality, proper individual space to promote happy breeders and babies. There are many aspects we take into effect to insure healthy pets. Our birds are checked regularly by a licensed Avian Veterinarian to insure they remain healthy and disease-free. Our birds are guaranteed healthy when they are sold.
We conduct extensive research on every breed we work with such as housing, dietary needs, temperament & personality and each breed's individual abilities, talents and special needs. How to best re-create their natural environments while keeping in mind that they are living in our world. Our babies are brought into the home, hand fed & tamed, played with daily and given individual attention. They become accustomed to all the normal household sounds and distractions and are introduced to children for good interaction.
