Cockatiels are now biologically
classified as the smallest of the dark colored cockatoo family.
They are prized and valued throughout the world as household pets for
their sweet temper, gentle & sociable nature. The cockatiel
has become one of the most popular companion birds. Their
lifespan is generally 12 to 20 years, the oldest recorded being 35.
They come in several mutations giving a wide variety of colors to choose from. Both male and female can talk but have a limited vocabulary. You can teach cockatiels several tunes by whistling the tune repeatedly. We have taught a lot of our cockatiels theme songs i.e. Andy Griffith & The Adams Family. They love to whistle and mimic other birds & noises. They are very devoted to their owners and will interact with family members spending quality time with them. They are quiet except become excited when greeting and calling to their owners. Our babies are raised in a family environment and enjoy attention, play-stands, toys & music. As babies you might think they are the "ugly duckling" of the bird world but soon turn into some of the most beautiful birds you could ever imagine. We raise several mutations with different colors and traits; Whiteface, Cinnamon, Lutino, Dominate and Recessive Silvers, Whiteface- Lutino (aka Albino) and normals. |
