SUN CONURES

Suns from 2, 4, 6 & 8 days
This species (A. [auricapillus] solstitialis) originates naturally in Northwestern Brazil.  They can be seen in small or large groups in the wild, open or slightly wooded areas and can reach altitudes up to 4,000 feet.  They are fairly easily bred in the US.  They are most easily recognized by their coloring which is close to a extremely vivid sunset that can take your breath away.  When mature they are very bright golden color flowing down their back into orange from the top to the bottom of the body with some green.  Their wings are beautiful when extended in full flight with amazing colors of cobalt blues, oranges, golds, and greens.  Because of their coloring people or very attracted to these medium size parrots.  They become fully mature by two years old and are approximately 14" in length.  The expected lifespan of this species is 20-35 years. The personality of the Sun Conure is quite exuberant and vocal.  They do learn to talk in a raspy voice.  As chicks they love to play with almost any toy and find amusement constantly.  They love companionship and being involved with the entire family.  As with any member of the Conure family, they are demanding of your attention and time.   So when deciding to pick a Sun Conure be sure that you have ample time to devote to your bird.   Any owner who chooses this vivacious little character will be undoubtedly richly rewarded with a loving companion for years of enjoyment.
